Tesla Owner’s Astonishingly Low Electric Bill: A Tesla owner recently shocked many by revealing his annual electricity bill after a year of driving his Tesla. Despite the high price tag of the car, the cost of running it turned out to be much lower than expected.
Surprisingly Low Cost: On X (formerly Twitter), the man shared that his total electric bill for the year was just $2.37 (£1.89). This is far less than what most people might anticipate for charging a Tesla. “First time I have had a bill within the last 12 months,” he noted.
The Power of the Powerwall: The secret behind the low bill is the Tesla Powerwall, a large battery that integrates with the home’s power system. When paired with solar panels, it stores excess energy, which is then used to charge the Tesla. Although the Powerwall itself is expensive, it can significantly reduce charging costs over time.
Long-Term Savings: While the upfront cost of a Powerwall is high, ranging from $11,500 (£9,000) to $15,000 (£11,800), it could be a worthwhile investment for long-term Tesla owners.
Community Reactions: Online, people humorously commented on the low bill, with one person suggesting a GoFundMe for the Powerwall cost.
Astonished by the ultra-low annual cost, Tesla fans and energy enthusiasts alike jumped into the conversation, with many remarking on the potential of solar power combined with battery storage. Some joked that the $2.37 bill could practically be considered a “splurge” compared to their usual energy expenses, and others humorously proposed fundraisers to help more people afford the initial Powerwall investment.
The impressive savings have sparked a renewed interest in sustainable home power systems. Many wondered aloud about expanding the Powerwall and solar combo to include other home appliances and systems, speculating that a fully solar-powered home setup might be more achievable than ever.
As more Tesla owners share their experiences with Powerwalls, it’s clear that the investment can lead to substantial savings over time. For now, this driver’s story serves as a promising glimpse into a future where energy independence and eco-friendly living might become the norm.
